The iPad Pro has a single USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port, which can be used to charge and/or connect accessories.

The smaller iPad Pro weighs 466g, while the larger weighs 682g – so again, massively lighter than the MacBook Air. Their sleek thin-bezel fronts and stark flat sides only add to the feeling that their design comes from slightly in the future compared to the MacBook Air's. The smaller version is just 5.9mm thick, while the larger is 6.4mm thick – both make the Air look bloated by comparison. The M1 iPad Pro comes in two sizes: one with an 11-inch screen, and one with a 12.9-inch screen. These are all things that are easy, and infuriating, to get wrong – but Apple doesn't. The MacBook Air gets so many things about being a laptop right, despite being small – it has just enough body to be a wrist rest while typing, its little lip makes it easy to open, the hinge is totally stable, and the balance is just right so it never tips while the screen is up. On the left side of the base, you'll find two USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports on the right is a 3.5mm audio jack connector. To the left and right of the keyboard are speaker grilles, and these are massively impressive for a thin laptop – sound is elevated so that it doesn't seem to be pumping out from under your hands, and there's clear stereo separation between left and right. The trackpad is nice and large, and always responds perfectly.
Inside you'll find Apple's latest keyboard design, which has a nice clickiness for feedback, and none of the reliability problems that plagued MacBooks for a time.

Hope that helps, I have never seen this much fuss over RAM for a Mac before. I have had Macs since they went to Intel and even with those they remained pretty good for what I used them for throughout, in my case the CPU/GPU became the issue before I had a RAM issue. I understand everyone is throwing around future proofing but I don't think its going to make much difference. For my use case which is very similar to yours 8GB does well. but at that point I would probably wait for the 16" or get at 16GB Mini if that were me. I understand some people will want the increased RAM for 8k workloads etc. I've also tried some light gaming with City Skylines and Civ and checked memory pressure with only about 50% memory pressure going (still in the green).

I've had a bunch of tabs open, running iMovie on 4k movie encodes and it works perfectly with no slow downs and remains snappy. I have the 8GB MBP M1 which is pretty similar to the MBA.
